February Finish

The quality is probably not great. I used my cell phone to take the picture but it is DONE! Well almost done. I need to quilt it. I bought the backing fabric yesterday and hope to have it on the machine tomorrow. This is my CGQC for February.
I would do it tonight but my little whirlwind is having his birthday party tonight. He is going to be 11 wow how time flies!!!! this is school vacation week so he got to sleep in.(or at least he was forced to stay in bed until his sisters made him breakfast in bed. He got toast, poptarts and french toast and milk shakes. I hope he didn't end up with a stomachache.

I sewed!

I was begining to think I would never have time to sew again. the kids have reached the stage where we don't get to sit for a minute. I have to admit that I like being busy and I am doing some of the things with the kids as well. We are all now a family of gold belts at karate. Yep all of us even my husband is doing this one. I am also taking tap with the girls. Well I am in beginer tap and they are in advance but we will all do the recital together. BUT with all of that I have MISSED sewing.

So on New Years Day I drove to my favorite quilt shop The Quilt Patch and spent a day sewing.

It is not done but doesn't it look great so far. This will be a raffle quilt for the drama dept at my kids school. Fingers crossed someone buys a ticket or more!

This quilt is also my January goal for CCQC I want to have it done and handed off to the school by the end of this month.

Secret Santa ready for the mail!

A slight change in plans for the Secret Santa Swap. I used a different table runner and different fabric. I think it is still cute as a button and I hope the person receiving it loves it. BUT I wanted to have time to make these adorable pillow cases as well and in order to have time the table runner had to be toned down just a tad. I love these pillow cases! There are two of each and they are made of flannel. I was tempted to keep one set but I know I would feel guilty every time I slept on one. Maybe a trip to the fabric store to buy more of the fabric is just what the doctor ordered.

There is also a cute little sewing kit as well. I picked this up at the Quilt show in November. It was just way too cute to pass up. I decided to go with a Winter theme versus a Christmas theme for a couple of reasons. One there was not much on my partners Blogs to show what her taste were. And two she would be able to use it for the whole winter!

This will all go in the mail first thing Monday morning. Crossing fingers that it arrives safe and sound.

Secret Santa Started

I have been in a quilty slump. Just not very motivated to sit down and sew. Between karate and jazz and tap and music lesson I think my new name is taxi instead of Mom. this does not give much free time. I decided I needed a project with a deadline to get me back in the sewing room. I signed up for a secret Santa swap. Here is a sneak peek of what I am working on. I have really enjoyed being back in the sewing room. Have a great book on audio an I am making great progress. I will post again when the runner is done. then I think I will make a couple of pillow cases as well. Sure hope who ever gets this loves it as much as I do.

Bliss!!!

My new Bliss system has arrived. I am very excited to give it a try. Well I guess I won't be trying it tonight. My job is cheerleader while my husband's friend puts it together. Thank God for friends. Don't think I would have been able to do this myself. It looks kinds of scary at the moment.

August Goals

Here are my August goals for the Charming Girls and will probably be my Design Wall Monday as well even though it is not yet Monday. But I am commuting between work and camp this week and will not get much done.

Here is a quilt I am making for a dear friend of mine. I am hoping to make two quilts one for her and one for me. "Sigh" I am so tired of never having a quilt that I make so I am thinking if I start making two of everything I can give one away and keep one. So my goal for this is to get three more blocks made this month. I am going to try to keep my goals in the attainable range. These blocks are just sooo pretty though I really love them. Mine will be in a more Christmas tone of fabric.

Sorry for the blurry picture. But i am at work and can't get another. I have been working on this quilt FOREVER and really want it done. I just need two more blocks which are almost done and the borders. I am bringing this with me this weekend to a friends where we will sew and go to the Augusta quilt show. I think I just might finally get this quilt done YEA!!!! Well then I have to quilt it. I will sneak it in between a couple of customer quilts and get this done by my September goal!!!!!

I want to get some of these put together with sashing. I have 25 made so far and want them all sashed then I will make some more. I would like to get it big enough to be a sample so that I can teach this for a class at my LQS. I just love this fabric. This quilt makes me happy. I am doing this as my starter and ender blocks so this quilt will take a while to be completed.

This is my hand work for when I am sitting outside of oboe lessons and clarinet lessons and Dr. appts. I again am making two for the same reasons as before. I really hope to keep one when done. I am almost done with one of the snow angel blocks and want both done by the end of the month. I already have two of the skiing blocks done. I am doing one in light blue thread and one in dark blue thread so they will be a little different.

Now that they are posted maybe that will give me the motivation to get some things done! I can't wait to see what everyone else is working on.

Sending her to live with Judy!

See this. This nice wall belongs in the room of my little vet. This is a nice white wall. Well a nice white wall with a lot of spackle. It is amazing how many holes a teenager can put in a wall. But still a nice white wall. Think how pretty this wall will look with a nice fresh coat of white paint.

First we spackle the walls. There are holes in every wall! It is amazing that when the house needs to be cleaned they disappear. But pull out spackle or paint and they are glued to your side. Somewhere in the sick minds of teens this is fun work. I will never try to understand them.
Then I tell them to go put on clothes that it is okay to wreck with paint. So they go and grab their Dads t-shirts. Hmmm good thing he doesn't read my blog and well they are not MY t-shirts so I will plead ignorance when he notices. And then we paint the nice white walls. WAIT this is NOT white paint. This is far from nice WHITE paint. Who in the world would let a 12 yr old pick out what color to paint her room! Oh wait that was me. But I really did not expect her to pick lime green! It is a lot more lime in 3d! So here is my little vet painting her room (sigh) green.

And of course her older sister(by 1 1/2 hours) is right there to help. Did I mention teens think this is fun?
And here is the new green wall. It still need one more coat and the other three walls are waiting until Daddy gets the edging done on them. I did NOT like edging and while the teens volunteered I thought it best to have Daddy do a little painting just to be safe. Now for some strange reason I thought of Judy over at Patchwork Times the whole time we painted this wall.
