Yum Nine Patches

It is Thursday so that means it is time to show our Half Pint Mini Quilt although mine is not all that mini. I did post this on Design Wall Monday but this is a better pic. It helps when you turn the lights on.

I am still playing a little catch up. Have not had time to sew during the week but I think I am doing pretty good.

Design Wall Monday

The start of yet another new week which means another Design Wall Monday. To look at other design walls head on over to Judy's site and check out the list. My kids spent quite a bit of time in the sewing room this weekend and decided to take over my design wall space. It just wasn't working for me so we went shopping and now my design wall has grown. If you can see to the left where my BOM's from a couple of years ago are hanging. That is new.

There was plenty of progress on the middle quilt over the weekend in between cutting fabrics for the girls. This is for the Half Pint Mini Quilt sew along although mine is not a mini. This is suppose to be a baby quilt. Oh well she will be able to fit it on her big girl bed when she gets older. Sorry the pics are so dark. I didn't have time to turn the lights on so these are all taken in the dark.
To get the girls off my design wall I had to go and get them their own design walls. Good thing there is a lot of wall space in my basement/sewing room. Well now there is actually no wall space left.LOL this is my little vets design wall.

Here she is figuring out her placements. Very important to get them just right.

And my little artist. I took three pics and they were all blurry. I think maybe because the light were off. This one is ready to be quilted.

Phew that is a lot of design walls to post. And a big Thank You to my niece Melissa for coming over to help me superglue/duct tape these tablecloths to the walls.

9 Patches and Things I can't do

As part of the Half Pint Quilt along I need to sew up a Bunch of nine patches. I have almost half of them done and I will finish up the rest tonight and get the top pieced this weekend so that I will be caught up. This pic is a little dark. The colors are a lot more pastel than they look. This will be a baby quilt for my cousins soon to be little girl.

While I think I am pretty good at making quilts there is one thing I can NOT do and that is make clothes. Nope not at all not in the least little bit. So when my girls decided they want old fashion dresses I knew there was no way. Until I found someone who did know how to make clothes!!!

Are these dresses not gorgeous!!!! And Linda the lady who made the dresses even took the extra material and made them each a dress for their American Girl dolls. My girls are happy and I am very happy I did not have to attempt to make these.

4 Seasons Quilt Swap

As part of the swap I had to make a wall hanging and send a gift. I have shown both here at some point or another. Well they are now done and ready for their new home. They were placed in the mail today. Now I will worry and bite my nails until I hear that they have made it safe to their new home. Safe travels!

Monday Again

Wow these Mondays sure have a way of sneaking up on you. I didn't post last week as I was away with the kids in VA for some sun and roller coasters. Not much has changed on the design wall. Not because I am not sewing but because what I am sewing on is not on the wall yet. I am working on the Quilt along which is now in strips next to the sewing machine. But on the design wall front the snowmen now have faces and I is missing.

Isn't this just a cute little face. The missing snowman is in my recliner have the binding sewn on. It is all quilted which was very nerve wracking cause I used my domestic and not my longarm. I think it came out pretty good considering I am not used to quilting that way. I just home my secret partner likes it. I will post another pic once the binding is on.

If you would like to look at more design walls head on over to Judy's site for Design Wall Monday.

A little of This a Little of That

I decided to sign up for a sew along. The reason behind adding yet another project to my list was easy. I have to make a ton of baby quilts. I think everyone in my family is pregnant at the moment. This quilt will make a real cute little girls quilt. Step one is now complete which is due today. I would have been done sooner but My husband and I took the kids to VA to Kings Dominion for the long weekend. Ten hours there what a long drive. So here is my fabric all cut. I did not cut the triangles as I prefer to sew my half squares while they are still in square form.

Another swap I was in was a summer time swap. This is what I received. Sorry it took so long to post the pic but my camera is usually home and this wall hanging is hanging up at my office. Isn't it so cute. It is right next to my desk so I see it every day.
On a quilty site that I am on I hosted a Quilting Bingo Game and here is the prize that I made for the winner. I just love this! I got to use my embroidery machine to add her name to make it a little more special.

The hardest part was finding the little cutting mat to go inside. My local Joannes only had four so I bought them all.
During our trip to VA I did insist on stopping at one quilt shop. If I was going to spend two days watching(not riding) the rest of the family go on roller coaster after roller coaster then I deserved some quilty time. We went to a great quilt shop called Quilting Adventures. I got the most yummy fabrics there. The four on the left are going to grow up to be a disappearing nine patch. I can't wait to see how it will turn out with these fabrics but it will have to wait until I get a bunch of baby quilts made. The fabric on the right, purple with polka dots will make it into a baby quilt. Just found out my brother is having a boy so I think will work out great with his quilt.
And yet another swap I am in. the winter swap over at Four Seasons . My snowman wall hanging now has a face. I just need to quilt and bind it and it is ready to go along with the gift I made for her. I hope she likes it.

Swap and Sew along

This post is also going to have to cover Design Wall Monday even though it is not yet Monday. As you can see it is not a pic of my design wall but it is what I have been working on this week.

It's not like I don't have enough to do but hey lets add more to the plate and join a swap. Hey while we are at it this quilt along looks real fun as well. Oh well who needs to get caught up right?

I am in a winter swap which I need to make a winter wall hanging seen here it is the one on the left. I know I know I made three but I was having fun. They just need faces and quilting. But not only do we need to make a wall hanging we need to send along a gift for the season as well. I decided to make my gift. Here it is. I just love it. It is dark and rainy here so the colors did not come in good in the pics. They are much prettier in person. I have a piece of fabric covering up a spot because I embroidered here name and this is a secret swap. If she saw her name that would be a giveaway.LOL

Here is the inside. Room for marking tools and seam ripper and what ever else you need for a quick take a long. Isn't it cute!!!! I sure hope she likes it! This was real fun to make.
Add to that I just signed up for a sew along here. As part of the sew along we need to post our fabric choice. So here are the fabrics I will be using. Again it is dark here so you can't tell how soft these colors look. I am thinking a quilt for a baby girl. Okay now I am off to eat some of that apple pie. Wouldn't want it to go to waste.

Apple Picking Now What!

Last weekend the weather was gorgeous. I'm thinking the last good weekend we will have until next June! So I wanted to take advantage of the great weather and we took the kids apple picking. Here they are taking a break. I guess apple picking wears you out.

Each kid needed their own bag. Well they didn't NEED their own bag BUT there sure is a lot less(actually no) fighting when they have their own bag. So I decided for the sake of my sanity they all got their own bag. Problem with this is I ended up with three yes three bags of apples. Luckily two of the above do not belong to me so their apples went home with them! Now if I canned this would not be a problem BUT I don't can and I don't have the supplies to can. So what to do??? I am now gonna make my first ever Apple Pie.

Look I even bought new pie pans because I was told to use glass. As you can see one of the apples has a tag on it. This is because we picked Macs and I was told that an apple pie completely of Macs would be to tart. so I had to buy some apples. Seems to defeat the purpose of making the apple pies but I used some bought and some picked.

Mmmmmm don't these look good! Not even in the pie yet and the house is already starting to smell good.

And this looks so pretty. It is not baked yet but needed to take a pick in case something real bad happened to it in the oven.

The pie is out and it didn't explode. The oven now needs to be cleaned! I didn't put this on a cookie sheet because I didn't know if it would effect the cooking but now the bottom of my oven looks real bad. I think it is a little dark but not bad for my first one.
So I said I had a lot of apples and one pie was not gonna get rid of many. I made two pies! This one was cooked for less time. We will see which one is better. The second pie looks better.
OK who is hungry because I have LOTS of apple pie!!!!!!
