Sew Along One Two Three

I have really been enjoying this sew along.  It has motivated me to get back into my sewing room.  Here is quilt number one.  This was suppose to be for me but I made an opps.  Something about listening to a good book and sewing until 2:00 A.M. is never a good combo.  So I decided that I could not live with the Opps and this will go to a non quilter who will never notice my opps. I really love the colors of this quilt but the pic does not do the justice.  Sigh I really should not take pics at night. I won't get any other sewing done this weekend so this post will also be my design wall Monday post as well.  When Monday comes check out Judy's site for other great quilty Blogs!
Here are the flying geese borders that will go on.  the flying geese are only going on quilt number one.  Gonna do the others a little different I decided.  Making flying geese is just not high up on my enjoyment list.
Here is sew along number two.  I am making this quilt for a dear friend.  As you can tell we do not usually have the same taste in fabric.  While I have been enjoying working on this quilt it has been a challenge working on fabric that does not sing to me.  It sings to my friend though and that is what matters!
And here is soon to be quilt number three.  This one will be for me and there will not be any opps in this one.  I just love the fabrics.  I love them even more that the first quilt! I think by the time I finish quilt number three I will be able to make this quilt in my sleep.
And while I was motivated I decided to pull out a UFO that only needed quilting.  It is now all quilted and bound.  I will give this to my sister in law when they come home for Christmas.  They are driving so i don't have to worry about is getting lost in the mail or taking up to much room in a suit case.

A close up of the gorgeous fabric!

And here is my little artist.  she ha taken up cross stitch.  Isn't she doing a great job.  I remember back when I did cross stitch.  I have my own little mini me's.  they make me smile every time I look at them

And here is the my vet who has also taken up cross stitch.  It is funny how they have such different personalities but yet share all the same interests.  They also ran the four mile Turkey Trot with me.  I am so proud of my girls!

Look I've grown

I have been working pretty steady on the Quilt a long. The first step would be done by now but I have taken a lots of breaks looking for our missing cat. Seems like every time I sit down to sew we get another call thinking they have seen our cat. We have learned that there are a LOT of black and white cats in our area.

So this is what is on my design wall today for Judy's Design Wall Monday. It is not as yellow as it looks it was the lighting.

Quilt Along Progress

I have really enjoyed working on this quilt along. I actually am enjoying all the steps to making it and picking out which colors I want to go with which. I have five blocks done and seven more almost done. They would have been completed but my darling husband forgot to mention the football party we had last night which cut into my sewing time. I hope to get some sewing done tonight but DH wants to take me out to dinner for our Anniversary. Wow 14 years goes by quick!

I have decided to use the Spring looking fabric BUT if I get this pieced before the deadline I might go back and start again with the darker fabrics.

Wow this is the first time I have been able to add a post to Judy's Design wall in forever. It is good to be sewing again!

Fabrics picked

The fabrics have been picked and I am not sure why they are sideways. I am not sure yet which ones I will go with. Maybe both if the cutting goes quick.

Not that I need another project

BUT!!!!! I'm thinking that a new project might be just what it takes to get me back to my sewing machine. Soooo I am thinking about doing the Charming Girls Quilt along. First I will need to make sure I have the fabric in my stash. Poor fabric I can't remember the last time I patted it.

I sewed!

I was begining to think I would never have time to sew again. the kids have reached the stage where we don't get to sit for a minute. I have to admit that I like being busy and I am doing some of the things with the kids as well. We are all now a family of gold belts at karate. Yep all of us even my husband is doing this one. I am also taking tap with the girls. Well I am in beginer tap and they are in advance but we will all do the recital together. BUT with all of that I have MISSED sewing.

So on New Years Day I drove to my favorite quilt shop The Quilt Patch and spent a day sewing.

It is not done but doesn't it look great so far. This will be a raffle quilt for the drama dept at my kids school. Fingers crossed someone buys a ticket or more!

This quilt is also my January goal for CCQC I want to have it done and handed off to the school by the end of this month.

Another Monday and a Quilt Along

It is time for another Design Wall Monday over at Judy's site. If you need some motivation head on over to Judy's site and check out all the quilting going on in Blog Land. I have made some progress on both quilts. I went from not liking the quilt on the wall on the left at all to loving it. The pinks and creams really made a big difference. It is not done and still has some rearranging to do. The quilt on the right only needs two more blocks and then the borders. It is called Oklahoma Twister from American Patchwork & Quilting February 2006 Issue 78. Gosh I have been working on this quilt for a long time. My niece wanted it in the exact colors as the one in the magazine. I think I came very close.

I am going to participate in another CGGQC quilt along. I had a blast on the first quilt along so even though I have way to many project I am going to do this one as well. I have so much fabric left over from the last quilt along that I am going to use the same fabric. Here is a pic of the fabric from the last quilt along. Easier than taking another pic.
Finally have my sample done and hung for the quilt class that I am teaching here. I love how this turned out. This will head to my sister in law as soon as I get it back and get it quilted. this was a fun class to teach. Can't wait to teach it again.
Here is another sample I had to make up as I am also teaching the class here. It is hard to keep up with samples when you are teaching at two different locations. I really love how different they both look.

And I am so proud of this next quilt. I did NOT make this quilt. This was from on of my students from my first class. Didn't she do a great job! I quilted the cutest panto into it. Dragonfly Pond from Willow leaf.

And I actually finished one of my own quilts! It is so hard to make time to put one of my quilts on the machine when I know I have customer quilts to do. This was a one day mystery quilt. it is so soft looking. The binding is all machine attached and just waiting for me to have the time to hand stitch it down. This will give me something to do this week during clarinet and oboe lessons.

CG&GQC Feb Finish

Well as they say two out of three ain't bad. I finished two out of my three attempts for my Feb finish. I have to thank CG&GQC or I don't think I were have been able to finish either of these. There is nothing like a deadline to get ones butt in gear!

I finished piecing my "Goodnight Sweetheart" Quilt. It has been handed off to my friend and she will mark it for me and in exchange I will quilt a quilt for her. Gotta love team work.

I finally finished this quilt for my cousin. This is a Christmas present that was due two years ago. Opps but at least it is finally finished. I hope she loves it. It is such a nice feeling to have something completed and heading out the door.
Here is a closeup.

I got to spend the day helping a friend out at her quilt shop. That is such a dangerous thing to do. As hard as I tried to come home empty handed this combination just really needed to come home with me. I got both color combinations. Now to decide what to make with them. Oh wait I still have tons of UFO's to finish up before I get to cut into these. Guess I will just have to pet them for a while.
