It's Not That I Haven't Been Sewing

It's just that I have been sewing on a quilt that I can't show here. I am making a quilt for a friend and in exchange she is making me a quilt. She picked out the focus fabric that we are both using and then we can add what ever we want to it so that both quilts are unique. As that is the only thing I have been piecing I haven't had anything to show here. Once I give it to her mid April I will post a pic. I just LOVE the way this quilt is coming out. It will be hard to give away, that is for sure.

I did manage to get a quilt on the frame though and it is almost done. This is a quilt my friend made and I am quilting it for her. In exchange she is marking some quilts for me. Seems like I get the better end of the deal. Well that was until she gave me King Tut thread for this. What should have taken a few hours has taken a few days. Can I just say I hate(well my machine) hates King Tut thread. In order to get the tension nice the thread then breaks every few seconds. Even with a not so great tension I am still re threading at least four times a row. Arg!!!! It is too bad because King Tut make the prettiest threads I've seen. I will stick with my Sew Fine thread Thank you very much.

Here is a close up of the quilting. Don't look to close I am not a pro or even close.
I know I shouldn't do this but I did. I pulled out fabric for two new project. Well one new project made twice. I won't start this until mystery quilt and Hunter Star Quilt are done! I won't really!!! But I do need something to do next Wed and I don't want to lug my machine to quilt night so I thought I would spend the night cutting out these quilts. Then nope I won't touch them until above mentioned quilts are done!

Here is the pattern of the new quilts. I am going to go a little more scrappy than the pics. I want to use up a couple of my bundles. Sigh, do you ever find that when you use a bundle you almost never use the creams. I have stacks of lights from bundles that never get used. I am going to have to make an all cream quilt someday.

And here is one of my biggest accomplishments. If you turn his cake around it says 10. My baby is ten years old now. Where did the time ago. So for a few more days until my girls birthday I will have 1 ten year old and 2 eleven years old.

CG&GQC Feb Finish

Well as they say two out of three ain't bad. I finished two out of my three attempts for my Feb finish. I have to thank CG&GQC or I don't think I were have been able to finish either of these. There is nothing like a deadline to get ones butt in gear!

I finished piecing my "Goodnight Sweetheart" Quilt. It has been handed off to my friend and she will mark it for me and in exchange I will quilt a quilt for her. Gotta love team work.

I finally finished this quilt for my cousin. This is a Christmas present that was due two years ago. Opps but at least it is finally finished. I hope she loves it. It is such a nice feeling to have something completed and heading out the door.
Here is a closeup.

I got to spend the day helping a friend out at her quilt shop. That is such a dangerous thing to do. As hard as I tried to come home empty handed this combination just really needed to come home with me. I got both color combinations. Now to decide what to make with them. Oh wait I still have tons of UFO's to finish up before I get to cut into these. Guess I will just have to pet them for a while.

Sometimes you have to break your own rules.

So my rule for this year was to finish my UFO's and no new projects. Well except for a few that were pre planed. But when you combine really pretty fabric and a real bad week. Well then there go the rules. I really needed to sew and while I have lots of project that need to be finished I just really wanted to sew with this fabric.

And after wondering around my sewing room for a real long time not in the mood to touch any of the projects I was suppose to finish this month I decided I was going to start something new.

This is a ruler I bought back in November that I have been dying to try.l I haven't yet well because of that whole no new projects rule. Seeing as the rule went out the window I pulled out the ruler. Can I just say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this ruler!!!!!

I have ALWAYS wanted to make one of these quilts and with this ruler it was soooo easy. And I really like how this fabric looks together for this quilt. I am actually enjoying being in my sewing room again. I will get one quilt top on the machine tonight before I sew some more so I won't feel to guilty.

And also I managed to piece my "Goodnight Sweetheart" Top at my Wed night sew. It just needs border so I have behaved a little bit.

CGCQ Feb

I did not get as much done in Jan as I had hoped so I will have one of my Jan's in Feb. I would like to finish piecing my "Good Night Sweetheart" This is my second attempt as trying to finish this quilt.

I would also like to finish piecing my mystery quilt that I started on Sunday as a all day sew. this only needs two borders to be completed.

My last finish it to quilt and bind this quilt. It is a Christmas present for my cousin but was suppose to be for Christmas of 08. I really need this done.
I am hoping to get more done than this but I want to keep my list at a doable size so that I don't get overwhelmed this month.

Charming Girls Jan Finish

I didn't do anywhere near as good as I wanted to do this month. My husband asked me to do P90X with him so this has cut into my sewing time and my energy level. I have enjoyed working out with him but need to get more sewing done.

I did get one of my Jan projects completed. I got my half pint quilt bound so it is now ready for its new home. I really love how this quilt came out.

Here is a close up of the binding. I really love the look of a scrappy binding. I think it adds that little something extra to a quilt.
I wasn't able to make it to the quilt room for the group quilt but I did manage to work on my good night sweetheart quilt at a sit and stitch on wed. It is still packed away for this wed so no pics.
I also got to go to an all day mystery sew at my LQS. You just show up and sew. They have the fabric all cut and they do all the ironing for you all day. I was able to complete this top today. I just need to add the borders and quilt. I think I might even(gulp) quilt from the front and not use a panto. This is also my design floor Monday as this has not made it to my wall yet.

On a non quilt related topic. I think our new cat Midge(the all black one) is really started to bond with our other cat cookie. Don't they look so cute together.

Now the guinea pigs on the other hand are not very happy with Midge at all. Can't say that I blame them. We did some rearranging so that the guinea pigs are now out of Midges reach.

Valentine Sewing Party

I am hoping to work on my "Goodnight Sweetheart" Quilt today. It doesn't look like a valentine quilt but I think the name of it makes it qualify.

I just got back from the gym and have to take the kids to toys r us then it is off to sewing. Will need a yoga break later with my husband. We are doing the P90X together so I don't want to bail on him. Gosh I can't wait to get some sewing done!

CGQC January

This is my first post as part of the Charming Girls Quilt Club and I am already late with it. "Sigh" But I have an excuse I am sick. What a way to start out the new year. Now that I am starting to feel better here is my post. The first project I would like to finish this month is the Half Pint Quilt. This just needs the binding. It has just needed the binding for about a month now. This is the month to get it done.

I don't plan on finishing this quilt this month but I would like to finish piecing the top. It just needs the sashing strips to be done.
This is the New Years Day Mystery Quilt that I want to finish piecing. I stopped working on it when I noticed that part of the directions were wrong and have to take some of it apart. I would like to fix it and finish piecing. I am starting to get frustrated with this site. I don't know if they even have a pattern tester.

On a different note I am so excited about my Christmas present from my husband. Now I can go to my embroidery classes with out worrying about break my new machine. I don't own luggage for my clothes my my sewing machine is gonna travel in style.

And I can't believe I didn't remember to post this sooner. This is what I received for the Half Pint Quilt Along. I was soooo excited when I found out my name was picked. I can't wait to be able to make something with this. My girls love it also I will have to hide it from them.

And here is a pic of my cat cookie. He could care less about his presents under the tree. LOL Just like any other kid they prefer the box.
