Never to Old to Learn

I decided I wanted to learn to make my own bread after seeing all the amazing loafs of bread on Judy's Blog. My husband and I took an adult ed class last night and we had a ball  I had a ball and he had to pretend to have fun.  Her is my first loaf. This is from top down so you can't see how wonderfully it rose.  When I got in my car this morning for work my car still smelled like fresh baked bread. YUM!!!!!  I can't wait to teach my girls!  Poor kids had to taste both breads and tell us who they liked better.  Even I have to admit they both tasted the same.  My husband is a pretty good cook as well.

I have decided to cast on a pair of adult socks.  I figure it can't be much harder than the baby socks that I made.  Not sure I remember how to turn the heel but if not I will just youtube it or facetime my friend Sue who is the world best knitter! Here is my cuff.  Isn't this yarn so pretty.  Sue sent it to me when I told her I wanted to learn to knit.  These will be for me.
If my socks turn out usable then this will be my second set.  Isn't this gorgeous.  It is hand dyed.  this will be for my Aunt who ohhhs and ahhh over everything I make.

I think I am getting the hang of this

While I have been quilting a little I am working on a project that I can not show pictures of yet.  HOWEVER I have started on a new adventure called knitting.  I have showed a little of what I have started. I think I am starting to get to the point where I can relax and enjoy the process.  Not quite so white knuckled while I am working.

Here was my first project.  Some baby socks.  I still have them because I don't know anyone who needs a pair of little girls socks and well it is my first knitting project so I don't want to let them go.  I can't wait to get good enough to make the awesome socks Judy made you can see them HERE. That is going to be a while though.

I just finished my little artist sweater.  I just need to bury all the ends that I have hidden in this project.  The color of this is a lot deeper than it looks in this pic.  I am really happy with this. It is not perfect but it is only my second knitting project.
And a hat that I started for my little vet.  This is a real relaxing project to work on. Same thing over and over again.

Next up is to start a sweater for my little vet and cast on a pair of adult socks.

Another Monday

It is another Monday.  Which means more inspiration on Judy's Blog for Design Wall Monday. I have finally finished my Sew A Long top. At least I have finished the first top.  I still have two more two go.  All of today's pics came from my cell phone so the quality is not great. Sorry about that.  This came out sooo pretty.  I was going to keep this one but made a couple of ooops so this is going to my sister-in-law who would never notice.

I can now start spending more time sewing as Muffin has offered to start helping the kids with their homework.  He is way better at Geometry than me.  As you can see he is hard at work figuring out their next answer.

Sew Along One Two Three

I have really been enjoying this sew along.  It has motivated me to get back into my sewing room.  Here is quilt number one.  This was suppose to be for me but I made an opps.  Something about listening to a good book and sewing until 2:00 A.M. is never a good combo.  So I decided that I could not live with the Opps and this will go to a non quilter who will never notice my opps. I really love the colors of this quilt but the pic does not do the justice.  Sigh I really should not take pics at night. I won't get any other sewing done this weekend so this post will also be my design wall Monday post as well.  When Monday comes check out Judy's site for other great quilty Blogs!
Here are the flying geese borders that will go on.  the flying geese are only going on quilt number one.  Gonna do the others a little different I decided.  Making flying geese is just not high up on my enjoyment list.
Here is sew along number two.  I am making this quilt for a dear friend.  As you can tell we do not usually have the same taste in fabric.  While I have been enjoying working on this quilt it has been a challenge working on fabric that does not sing to me.  It sings to my friend though and that is what matters!
And here is soon to be quilt number three.  This one will be for me and there will not be any opps in this one.  I just love the fabrics.  I love them even more that the first quilt! I think by the time I finish quilt number three I will be able to make this quilt in my sleep.
And while I was motivated I decided to pull out a UFO that only needed quilting.  It is now all quilted and bound.  I will give this to my sister in law when they come home for Christmas.  They are driving so i don't have to worry about is getting lost in the mail or taking up to much room in a suit case.

A close up of the gorgeous fabric!

And here is my little artist.  she ha taken up cross stitch.  Isn't she doing a great job.  I remember back when I did cross stitch.  I have my own little mini me's.  they make me smile every time I look at them

And here is the my vet who has also taken up cross stitch.  It is funny how they have such different personalities but yet share all the same interests.  They also ran the four mile Turkey Trot with me.  I am so proud of my girls!

Look I've grown

I have been working pretty steady on the Quilt a long. The first step would be done by now but I have taken a lots of breaks looking for our missing cat. Seems like every time I sit down to sew we get another call thinking they have seen our cat. We have learned that there are a LOT of black and white cats in our area.

So this is what is on my design wall today for Judy's Design Wall Monday. It is not as yellow as it looks it was the lighting.

Quilt Along Progress

I have really enjoyed working on this quilt along. I actually am enjoying all the steps to making it and picking out which colors I want to go with which. I have five blocks done and seven more almost done. They would have been completed but my darling husband forgot to mention the football party we had last night which cut into my sewing time. I hope to get some sewing done tonight but DH wants to take me out to dinner for our Anniversary. Wow 14 years goes by quick!

I have decided to use the Spring looking fabric BUT if I get this pieced before the deadline I might go back and start again with the darker fabrics.

Wow this is the first time I have been able to add a post to Judy's Design wall in forever. It is good to be sewing again!

Fabrics picked

The fabrics have been picked and I am not sure why they are sideways. I am not sure yet which ones I will go with. Maybe both if the cutting goes quick.
