A little of This a Little of That

I decided to sign up for a sew along. The reason behind adding yet another project to my list was easy. I have to make a ton of baby quilts. I think everyone in my family is pregnant at the moment. This quilt will make a real cute little girls quilt. Step one is now complete which is due today. I would have been done sooner but My husband and I took the kids to VA to Kings Dominion for the long weekend. Ten hours there what a long drive. So here is my fabric all cut. I did not cut the triangles as I prefer to sew my half squares while they are still in square form.

Another swap I was in was a summer time swap. This is what I received. Sorry it took so long to post the pic but my camera is usually home and this wall hanging is hanging up at my office. Isn't it so cute. It is right next to my desk so I see it every day.
On a quilty site that I am on I hosted a Quilting Bingo Game and here is the prize that I made for the winner. I just love this! I got to use my embroidery machine to add her name to make it a little more special.

The hardest part was finding the little cutting mat to go inside. My local Joannes only had four so I bought them all.
During our trip to VA I did insist on stopping at one quilt shop. If I was going to spend two days watching(not riding) the rest of the family go on roller coaster after roller coaster then I deserved some quilty time. We went to a great quilt shop called Quilting Adventures. I got the most yummy fabrics there. The four on the left are going to grow up to be a disappearing nine patch. I can't wait to see how it will turn out with these fabrics but it will have to wait until I get a bunch of baby quilts made. The fabric on the right, purple with polka dots will make it into a baby quilt. Just found out my brother is having a boy so I think will work out great with his quilt.
And yet another swap I am in. the winter swap over at Four Seasons . My snowman wall hanging now has a face. I just need to quilt and bind it and it is ready to go along with the gift I made for her. I hope she likes it.

Swap and Sew along

This post is also going to have to cover Design Wall Monday even though it is not yet Monday. As you can see it is not a pic of my design wall but it is what I have been working on this week.

It's not like I don't have enough to do but hey lets add more to the plate and join a swap. Hey while we are at it this quilt along looks real fun as well. Oh well who needs to get caught up right?

I am in a winter swap which I need to make a winter wall hanging seen here it is the one on the left. I know I know I made three but I was having fun. They just need faces and quilting. But not only do we need to make a wall hanging we need to send along a gift for the season as well. I decided to make my gift. Here it is. I just love it. It is dark and rainy here so the colors did not come in good in the pics. They are much prettier in person. I have a piece of fabric covering up a spot because I embroidered here name and this is a secret swap. If she saw her name that would be a giveaway.LOL

Here is the inside. Room for marking tools and seam ripper and what ever else you need for a quick take a long. Isn't it cute!!!! I sure hope she likes it! This was real fun to make.
Add to that I just signed up for a sew along here. As part of the sew along we need to post our fabric choice. So here are the fabrics I will be using. Again it is dark here so you can't tell how soft these colors look. I am thinking a quilt for a baby girl. Okay now I am off to eat some of that apple pie. Wouldn't want it to go to waste.

Apple Picking Now What!

Last weekend the weather was gorgeous. I'm thinking the last good weekend we will have until next June! So I wanted to take advantage of the great weather and we took the kids apple picking. Here they are taking a break. I guess apple picking wears you out.

Each kid needed their own bag. Well they didn't NEED their own bag BUT there sure is a lot less(actually no) fighting when they have their own bag. So I decided for the sake of my sanity they all got their own bag. Problem with this is I ended up with three yes three bags of apples. Luckily two of the above do not belong to me so their apples went home with them! Now if I canned this would not be a problem BUT I don't can and I don't have the supplies to can. So what to do??? I am now gonna make my first ever Apple Pie.

Look I even bought new pie pans because I was told to use glass. As you can see one of the apples has a tag on it. This is because we picked Macs and I was told that an apple pie completely of Macs would be to tart. so I had to buy some apples. Seems to defeat the purpose of making the apple pies but I used some bought and some picked.

Mmmmmm don't these look good! Not even in the pie yet and the house is already starting to smell good.

And this looks so pretty. It is not baked yet but needed to take a pick in case something real bad happened to it in the oven.

The pie is out and it didn't explode. The oven now needs to be cleaned! I didn't put this on a cookie sheet because I didn't know if it would effect the cooking but now the bottom of my oven looks real bad. I think it is a little dark but not bad for my first one.
So I said I had a lot of apples and one pie was not gonna get rid of many. I made two pies! This one was cooked for less time. We will see which one is better. The second pie looks better.
OK who is hungry because I have LOTS of apple pie!!!!!!

Another Monday

Okay so it is not quite Monday but I figured while I had time I would post now. There would be a lot more done since my last post but the entire family decided it would be a good time to get sick. Sewing was not an option for me. The only time off the couch was to make my way to the bed. I did get a lot done this weekend though now that I am feeling better and the rest of the family is feeling better.

The quilt on the right has another row added from the last post. Sorry so blurry. The blocks on the left are for a winter wall hanging swap. Well one is for the swap but I figured it was just as easy to make three as it was to make one.LOL They just need their faces and I have to figure out how to quilt them.

This is a baby quilt that I made that is in the process of having the binding attached. I was able to frame and quilt it today. this was started on Superbowl Sunday and only became a UFO for a few months.
Judy challenged everyone to show their stash then work to use it up and then show another pic in January. Here is my stash. Now the first column bottom two are not mine they belong to my girls. After looking at some of the other stashes I don't really feel that I have an overly huge stash.

The stuff on this side is my backing fabrics some quilts that need quilting. I have some kits made up. And some fq bundles. I think all in all it is not a really big stash. It is big enough that when I want to make a quilt I can go to my stash. I don't like getting inspired and then having to wait until I can get to a quilt shop before I start. As you can tell I did not clean before I took the pics. What a mess.

Field Hockey

Now I have to admit I didn't play sports in school unless you count one semester of track. But still even though I didn't play there are a lot of sports that I still know the rules. I know basketball and baseball but field hockey? Nope don't know a thing about it. So what do my girls decide to play yep field hockey. I must have looked lost because the coach gave me a book on field hockey rules. Now to find the time to read the book! For now I'll just keep yelling go blue!!!!!

Monday Already

Where did the weekend go? I know I had one and I really enjoyed it but I just wish it was longer.

I got to spend Friday night sewing with Friends. Drove to N.H. for a Friday Frenzy. I got the binding done on a quilt that I can't show just yet. Just needs a label then I hope to have it in the mail tomorrow.

Saturday night was spent at Menopause the Musical. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. I would go to that again in a heartbeat. Although as much as I laughed I did start to get real nervous. Never gave Menopause much of a thought before. I am hoping that maybe I will skip over that portion of my life. It didn't look like much fun to have.

The best part of the weekend was Sunday. We took the kids to the last day of Funtown. We also brought some of their friends along. So it was six kids and the husband and myself. There was not one fight not even so much as a bicker the whole day.
Today is Monday so that means Design Wall Monday from Judy's site. I haven't shown anything in a while because I had a quilt on the wall that can't be seen just yet. I have decided that the left side of the wall is for new projects and the right side for UFOs. I have cleaned off both sides of the wall and now have a new UFO up. Both quilts up before are completed and one is quilted and bound. I am starting to make a dent finally!!! Here is my UFO that belongs to my niece. There is hope that she may actually get this. I do love this quilt so I am not sure why I keep setting it aside. This is the last time it goes on the wall. It will only come down when it is ready to be quilted!!!!!!

Christmas Present Top Done

I would be very excited except this is a present from last Christmas and not this coming Christmas. But the top is finally done and ready to be quilted. It might actually make it to its new home before Christmas this year.

I actually got two tops completed this weekend but cant show the other top until it makes it to its new home.

I want to get one of the quilts loaded on the machine for quilting but my girls had a better idea. I ended up giving them and their friend all manicures. I tried to take pics but couldn't get my camera to focus on their little nails. They all look great! Now if only I could do my own nails.
